The department was established as an allied department in the year 1988 when the college was started.The department is teaching mathematics and statistics as an allied Courses in various other programs offered in the department of Computer Science and Applications, Software Systems, Electronics, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Commerce and Management. The department gives importance for the development of the personality of the individual and makes them a worthy citizen of our great country. Towards accomplishing the above objectives, the department has sound infrastructural facilities in addition to a highly motivated team of faculty members. The department organizes regular seminars and various value added programs for the holistic development of the students.

Mrs. Mrudula Ravindran has twelve years of teaching experience besides two years in M.P. Birla Hr Sec. School, Calcutta. She is a product of Ramanujam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, Madras University Department. She is a recognized guide for M.Phil Research programme. Areas of interest are Topology and Differential Equations. Organizes Faculty Development Programmes for School and College teachers, NET coaching, Inter school competitions and Inter Colleg competitions, etc.,.to promote Mathematics education. |

Faculty Development Programme on“Teaching of Mathematics at School and College level” Resource Persons Dr.P.T.Ramachandran(Calicut University), Dr.S.P.Anjali
Devi(Bharathiar University), Dr.Arumuganathan(PSG Tech). School and College teachers in and around Coimbatore participated. We are the first to conduct such a programme under Bharathiar University.
12th August, 2010:
Association Inauguration: Dr.K.T Varkey,Principal, CMS College of Science and Commerce, inaugurated the Mathematics Association activities for the academic year 2010-2011. Sri S. Selvaraj, Manager – Product Development & Engg.(Pumps), Pricol Ltd,Plant -3, delivered a special Lecture on Mathematics in designing and functioning of the company’s product.

Department students went for an Industrial Visit to Delhi and Agra with two staff members.
28th December, 2010:
Inter School Competitions and Inter Collegiate Competitions. (Quiz, Math sketching, paper presentation, Miming, Puzzle solving). PSGR Krishnammal College for Women and Vidya Vikas Matric Hr. Sec School won the over all Championships.
12th February, 2011:
