CMS
Educational and Charitable Trust |
CMS Educational and Charitable Trust is a non-profit organization promoted by eminent industrialists, leading businessmen and distinguished professionals. The Trust has a long and proud record of progressive activities in the field of education, art, culture, sports and social service. It has grown into a renowned institution under the leadership of illustrious and committed people.
The Trust comprises 48 managing trustees. They elect a governing body consisting of chairman, vice-chairman, secretary, joint secretary and treasurer. They plan, direct and monitor the over all working of the institution.
The Trust runs three more institutions for higher education apart from CMS College of Science and Commerce.
CMS Institute of Management Studies (CMS IMS) is a leading business school run by the CMS Trust. It is affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and is approved by AICTE, New Delhi. It is co-located with the CMS College of Science and Commerce and has modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities. It also offers an accelerated one year full time MBA programme through James Cook University (JCU), Australia.
CMS Academy of Management and Technology (CMS AMT) is yet another business school started by the Trust from the academic year 2009-10. It is affiliated to Bharathiar University and is approved by AICTE. This school is also co-located with CMS College of Science & Commerce and has all basic amenities for business education as is the case of all the institutions sponsored by the CMS Trust.
CMS College of Engineering & Technology (CMS CET) is an institution for technical education established by the Trust from the academic year 2009—10. This institution was started with a commitment to train the next generation of engineers and technocrats. Situated at Thirumalayampalayam, off Velanthavalam on Coimbatore-Palaghat National Highway, the CMS—CET has a total land area of about 27 acres. It has a large academic block, workshop, administrative office, canteen, playground etc.

The Chairman, Mr.M.P.Gopalakrishnan is a member of the Syndicate of Bharathiar University, to which CMS College of Science and Commerce is affiliated. The Syndicate is the highest decision taking body of this university and our Chairman’s presence in it speaks volumes about the importance given to our college by the University and the Government of Tamil Nadu. Incidentally, the membership in the Syndicate itself was conferred on our Chairman by His Excellency, the Governor of Tamil Nadu in recognition of the services rendered by him to the cause of education.
A chartered accountant and corporate management consultant by profession, Mr. Gopalakrishnan has left an indelible mark in different walks of life. Besides being the director of several companies, he is keenly interested in social and cultural activities. He is the vice-president of Arulmigu Siddhapudur Ayyappa Temple, a member of the Kerala Club of Coimbatore and also an executive committee member of the Coimbatore Malayali Samajam.
A mobilizing spirit, an undying commitment and a clear vision are Mr. Gopalakrishnan’s major traits. He upholds the collective self-dignity of the Malayali Diaspora of Coimbatore.

The Vice-Chairman of the Trust, Mr.K.Rajagopalan is the President of the Coimbatore Malayali Samajam, which is considered as one of the best organizations working for the welfare of Malayalis living outside Kerala. He was the secretary of the Samajam for the last two decades and has been actively associated with all its socio-cultural activities.
Mr. K. Rajagopalan, a retired Commercial Tax Officer, is a happy amalgam of the social and the religious. He is the Vice-President of the Federation of All India Marunadan Malayali Association, Chennai and a member of the Akhila Bharatha Ayyappa Seva Sangam. He was the Secretary of Sree Ayyappa Seva Sangam and the Chairman of CMS Malayalam High School. He is also a member of the Kerala Cultural Centre. He has been a successful leader of the heterogeneous group of Malayalis who have made Coimbatore their home.

A retired official of the LIC of India, Mr.C.K.V.Nambiar has carved a niche for himself in the social life of Coimbatore. He brings with him many years of dedicated service to the cause of education. He is also intimately connected with many social organizations of Coimbatore. Mr.C.K.V.Nambiar is the Vice President of Coimbatore Malayali Samajam; Chairman of CMS Matriculation School, Maniakaranpalayam; Member of the Managing Committee of CMS Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore; Life Member of Sree Narayana Mission, Coimbatore, a Trustee of Sree Narayana Guru Polytechnic College at Madukkarai and Sree Narayana Guru College, Chavadi. He is a Life Member of Sree Ayyappa Seva Sangam, Siddhapudur, Coimbatore and also a member of Kerala Club and Kerala Cultural Center. During his lengthy tenure as the Secretary of Coimbatore Malayali Samajam, he worked ceaselessly for the establishment of CMS College of Science and Commerce. His frank and forthright approach to problems has endeared him to the parents and public alike. Despite a busy schedule, Mr. Nambiar still nourishes a deep love for the slow pleasures of reading and writing. |

A pragmatist to the core, Mr.T.A.Venugopal, the joint secretary of the Trust can evaluate situations objectively and achieve what is realistically possible. Over the years he has succeeded in establishing a meaningful relationship between the management and the staff of CMS College of Science and Commerce through tactful, non-authoritarian, and non-dictatorial ways.
An Assistant Engineer in Public Works Department, Mr.T.A.Venugopal is the Secretary of the CMS Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Gananpathy and Vice-Chairman of Sree Narayana Guru Matriculation School, Kuniamuthur. He is an executive committee member of Coimbatore Malayali Samajam and Sree Narayana Mission, Coimbatore. He is a member of the managing committee of Kerala Club and also a member of Kerala Cultural Center. As a technocrat he believes in developing technology with a human face. He has succeeded in setting new benchmarks for successful people management in CMS College of Science and Commerce.

Always guided by a deep religious spirit, Mr.P.Vijayaraghavan carries with him an extraordinary moral and social concern in his thoughts and actions. This retired Senior Divisional Manager of United India Insurance Company has served the Coimbatore Sree Ayyappa Seva Sangam in various capacities as its Joint Secretary, Secretary and Vice-President. At present he is the President of the Sangam. He was the treasurer of Coimbatore Malayali Samajam before becoming its Vice-President. He is also the chairman of CMS Primary School (English Medium).
Mr. Vijayaraghavan has put in meritorious service as the Secretary and Vice-President of Kerala Club, Coimbatore, the Treasurer of the Lions Club of Coimbatore Ram Nagar, and the Secretary, Lions Club of Coimbatore Ind City. Before taking up the responsibility for a second term as Treasurer of the CMS Educational and Charitable Trust, he had served two terms as its Vice-Chairman and Secretary. He enriches the Trust with his venerable presence.
