Dr. S. Sree Kumar started his professional career as a freelance journalist in Bombay in the year 1972. He joined Tamil Nadu Government Collegiate Service as Assistant Professor of English in 1976 and continued there till his retirement as Reader in English, Govt. Arts College, Coimbatore—18 in 2007. Thus he brings with him more than three decades of teaching and writing experience. He has authored 3 books –Recent Trends in Literary Thinking (Published by Annamalai University, 2003), Modern Rhetoric and Research Methodology (Published by Alagappa University, 2005), and Reporting (Published by Annamalai University, 2005). Apart from these he has written articles for various journals and translated a collection of short stories from Malayalam that awaits publication. At present he is pursuing a minor project, “A Study of the Cardinal Concepts of Indian Aesthetics— ‘Rasa’, ‘Dhwani’ and ‘Aucitya’” for the UGC. Dr. Sree Kumar is a recognized guide of Madras, Bharathidasan, Madurai Kamaraj, Annamalai, Alagappa, Vinayaka Mission, Dravidian, and Bharathiar Universities. He has successfully guided 15 Ph.D. scholars and more than 80 M.Phils. Dr. Sree Kumar has given a series of lectures from May 2005 to Dec. 2006 for TNPSC students through All India Radio, Coimbatore. He is a resource person for refresher courses in the Academic Staff Colleges of Bharathiar and Tanjore Tamil Universities. He has given many lectures on various aspects of language and literature and is also a trainer for NET, SLET, IELTS and BEC aspirants. He was a member of the Board of Studies in Erode Arts College, PSG College of Arts and Science, Kongunadu Arts and Science College, PSGR Krishnammal College, G.R. Damodaran College of Science, Park College, Tirupur, and Nirmala College, Coimbatore. He was also selected as the chairman of the Board of Studies in English (PG) of Madras University. He is a life member of MELUS India and V.S. Naipaul Club. |
