The Department of Commerce was established in 1988 with the aim of offering instruction in commerce and business related subjects. The Department has since then pioneered several research-oriented programmes to enable each student to develop his or her own interest in commerce and business. The granting of autonomy to the college has helped the department to individualize the courses using a range of theoretical studies which are complemented with industrial applications. The different programmes offered by the department such as the B.Com, M.Com. & research degrees are designed in tandem with the requirements of the industry and other commercial institutions. Excellent faculty and technical infrastructure combined with a dynamic leadership have enabled the department to train the students even in subjects like Cyber marketing, information technology and other computer-based skills. The department has a state-of-the-art computer lab and a well-equipped library. The placement record is excellent with commerce graduates finding employment in diverse range of challenging professions with organizations like the HDFC, ICICI, Federal Bank, TCS, CTS, Palma Group etc.
